This video showcases the Rube Goldberg machines that my team and I put together using household materials and our own creativity. We each chose tasks from a list given to us by the organizers and split up to tackle those challenges individually. The first machine's task was to knock over a cup. The second machine's task was to get a ball into a cup. The third machine's task was to blow out a candle. The fourth machine's (my machine) task was to drop an object from a height of 1 meter or greater.

My machine used a funnel that led to a ramp with barriers all around that were meant to slow the marble down. The marble would then enter a tunnel where it would eventually fall into a bucket. This bucket was attached to a pulley made using a paint roller. Once the bucket pulled on the pulley, the other side would tilt a platform that had a heavy object, a 9 Volt battery in this case, and the object would fall on a see-saw. The see-saw had a lighter object, a tape measure in this case, that would be launched by the force of the battery and then fall to the ground from a height of greater than 1 meter.

As a team, we earned 1st place in the Junior Design Competition and an invitation to participate in OEC 2021.
